General Overview		Maya is a compassionate and driven young woman; she came into the medical profession inspired by her mother and has made it her life goal to be every bit as good as, if not better than, her. She readily exhibits every bit of professionalism expected of her and then some, and has never been one to shy away from large, tedious tasks assigned to her. Off-duty, however, one can expect a much more cheerful and even flirtatious side of her to show; Maya enjoys partying and prefers to hang around other people rather than do things on her own.
Strengths, Weaknesses, and Quirks		Strengths: Passionate, motivated, independent, caring Weaknesses: Might be trying a little bit too hard, oftentimes forgoes her own well-being to care for others (as an emulation of her mother's own work ethic, arguably), struggles to ask for help when she needs it. Quirks: Maya has a pretty big appetite and will readily try most dishes at least once. She offsets this with exercise to the best of her ability.

Personal History		Maya was brought up on the human colony of Utopia Planitia on Mars as compared to Earth, her parents having emigrated there from Earth some years ago. Her childhood was as ordinary as most human teenagers would get; her father personally supervised her education, eagerly helping her with homework, personal studies and so on. He became the bigger figure in her life while her mother, a hospital nurse who enjoyed reasonable repute in their local community for her kindness and dedication to her job. While she could not always be at home, especially if she was on call, her work served as an inspiration to Maya; how she longed to be like her one day. Of course, she had her own life outside of studying. Living near the local lake and the surrounding forest meant that she spent a good portion of her free time outside playing in the trees or in the sparkling waters with her friends from school. It was during these play sessions that they learned to climb up and down trees (albeit with multiple instances of falling off and sustaining injuries of various degrees); the forest was their playground. On one occasion they even built a small tree house in the biggest tree they could scale with their parents' assistance, at least, until it collapsed in the rain and was never rebuilt. She saw an opportunity to become like her when Starfleet recruiters visited her neck of the woods, so to speak, and it was from that point on she decided to enter Starfleet Academy. Maya worked hard on her medical studies and training, often to her own detriment. While she did not graduate handsomely as some of her classmates did in the end, her file would be full of comments from her instructors lauding her dedication and work ethic, and that given time and experience she would surely blossom.
