Mission:
Mission 0 - Pre-Sigma Iotia II
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 2168/08/12 2130
While in engineering, Jordan burnt his hand on a circuit. He wasn't paying attention to what he was doing, cardinal sin in engineering, and burnt his left hand. As he walked to sickbay, his mind wandered, he was worried that they may never reach home again. What will they do?...keep wandering in an unknown universe, and find a planet and settle down? Jordan's other problem was that he was lonely for female companionship.
That's why he burnt his hand.
He walked into sickbay looking for someone to help him.
Audrey was just finishing up with some paperwork when a red shirt wandered into the sickbay looking pathetic and holding his hand to his chest.
A glance around the area confirmed that, indeed, all the other staff had gone on break and left her to hold down the fort.
"One moment," she called out, sighing as she rose up from her seat. She made her way out of her office and into the sickbay proper. "So... what have you got done to yourself today, Lieutenant Blackford?"
He held out his hand. "I burnt myself on an exposed circuit I was working on...I let my mind wander and paid the price." He looked at her. "Is it serious, doc?"
She gives him a sardonic smile, pulls out a hypo spray, and presses it against his arm above the injury.
With a slight hiss, the device applies the serum and his hand begins to tingle as the skin begins mending.
"It's fatal, I'm afraid." She says with a wink and pats him on the shoulder. "Better take the rest of the day off to get your affairs in order and say goodbye to your loved ones."
"'Fatal?' Cause of a simple burn???" Blackford was stunned.
The doc sighed. Bit dim this one.
"Yep. Tacheon burst discombobulated your polarity. 100% fatal, but death occurs irregularly. Expect it sometime between now and 70 years in the future." She slaps one of her special Cookie Monster bandaids on the rapidly healing wound and steps back.
"So its up to you whether or not you go back to work today."
"So you decided to play a joke on the new guy, eh?" He shook his head. "Good thing you're cute." He got off the bed. "I need to get back to work." He headed towards the sickbay doors.
Audrey chortled.
"Cute?" She shook her head. "Kids these days can't take a joke."
